Peepli Live: Aamir's next film is for adults only!

The next Aamir Khan film 'Peepli Live' starring Raghuvir Yadav, is for adults only. We hear the perfectionist star was given the option of making a few cuts and getting a 'U' rating for the film but Aamir was cool with the 'adults only' tag and refused any and all cuts.

The movie, sadly, doesn’t star Aamir and has Raghuvir Yadav, playing a distraught farmer who announces his suicide in advance. Nawaz, a reporter who hears about the case wants to break the news. The news catches the attention of politicians and news channels who want to get mileage out of the situation.

After deliberation, farmer decides not to kill himself but Nawaz ends up killing himself.

Since the film is set in a village, it has ample rustic vernacular that at times borders on fowl language. The Censor Board obviously wasn’t pleased with the dialogues and gave Aamir the option of deleting these scenes to get a ‘U’ (Universal Viewing) certificate.

According to a source, the film is the official entry to the Sundance Film Festival, and Aamir didn't want the Censor Board to tamper with the material.

"Peepli Live has made an entry in the World Cinema Narrative category. It's the first Indian film to go to the festival, and making cuts for the Indian audience wouldn't have been fair, " he adds.

Karan Johar ignores Abhishek Bachchan

Mumbai, Jan 14 (IANS) Popular filmmaker Karan Johar is so busy promoting his film "My Name Is Khan" that he didn't even notice actor Abhishek Bachchan waving out to him on the streets recently.

"Just passed Karan Johar on the road. And he didn't wave back! Ooooooh you in trouble now boy!" Abhishek posted on his Twitter page.

Though Johar has never directed Abhishek in any of his films, they have worked together in "Dostana", which was produced by Johar's Dharma Productions.

Shahrukh to attend ‘Veer’ premiere

It may sound bizarre but it is true that Shahrukh Khan will attend the premiere of Salman Khan’s ‘Veer’. Salman will send a special invitation to his friend turned foe following the incident at Katrina’s birthday bash. The two Khans usually avoid each other but their path collided recently during the premiere of ‘3 Idiots’. Though they did not greeted one another or shared pleasantries, they now wanted to mend their relationship.

It was known that Salman Khan was the first who extended the olive branch by calling Karan Johar and praising him for the trailer of ‘My Name Is Khan’. Shahrukh Khan also in return praised Salman’s ‘Veer’ and complimented the film by saying that it is one of the films of this year he is looking forward to.

Well, it good that rivalry iin Bollywood is slowly dying down.

Vidya Balan changes her address

It seems the connection between a film actor's home address and his/her fortune at the box office is connected in some way. May be that's the reason why many actors change the address of their residences just before or after the release of the film.

A case in point is Rani Mukherjee. During the release of her last film DIL BOLE HADIPPA, the actress changed her address just to attract good luck.

A similar story is brewing in the life of Vidya Balan. According to sources the actress is hunting for a new home in Bandra. This hot pursuit for property comes just before the release of her film ISHQIYA.

Aditya Chopra wins Rani finally

It's finally celebration time for Aditya Chopra. The heir apparent of the country's reputed film production company has finally managed to end his emotional crisis. Latest developments point to the fact that Aditya Chopra's love interest- Rani Mukherjee, is finding increasing acceptability in the Chopra house, much to the relief of Aditya.

In India the 2nd week occupancy of 3 IDIOTS fell by a mere 28% indicating a very strong word of mouth for the film, which has made the film a must see this winter. Most multiplexes have added 14 to 21 new shows in the 2ndweek compared to first week with 150 additionally shows. After a long time an Indian film has had such repeat audiences for a film.

Shahid Kapoor: My pocket money was Rs. 500

CHANCE PE DANCE is up for release and as is a known fact by now, the film is about the struggle of an aspiring actor (played by Shahid Kapoor) though told in a fun and light hearted manner. While the film's recent promotional campaign involved Shahid and Genelia spending a night in the car and sharing 'vada-pav' and 'cutting chai' with visitors, the fact is that as a child Shahid used to be really fascinated of roadside meals and often spent the 'huge fortune' that he had amassed as pocket money at these stalls.

Laughs Shahid, "You know, working in the film really reminded me so much of my years gone by. I will share with you an interesting part of my life when I used to get a princely sum of Rs. 500 per month from my dad as pocket money. Weekends used to be special as I got a little extra. So here I am coming back from school and happen to see a roadside 'vada pav' stall. The question on my mind is - 'Should I take a rickshaw back home or instead use those Rs. 5 to pick up a 'vada-pav'. No prizes for guessing, it used to be the latter for me."

Snake disrupts Shahrukh's shoot

The upcoming film MY NAME IS KHAN has not been without its share of real adventure stories. Now, the latest one involves SRK, Karan Johar and a snake.

It's learnt that while the cast and crew of the film were shooting in film city for one of the sequences in a water tank, all of a sudden a snake was spotted by few actors. SRK, who was also part of the shoot, was so scared that he jumped out of the water tank. Same was the case with KJO, who was equally scared at spotting this creature and refused to resume shooting till this scare was diffused.

Finally, a snake catcher was called for help and it took some time before the shoot could be resumed.

Karan Johar: MNIK is not an issue based film

Ever since Karan Johar announced MY NAME IS KHAN with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, it has been widely assumed that the film is picking upon the issues and challenges faced by Muslims globally and aims at addressing them through the medium of cinema.

Aishwarya & Shahrukh bond once again

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan, who were last seen together in the film DEVDAS, might work together one more time. If the latest reports are to be believed, SRK approached Aishwarya in a recent party and offered her a cameo in his upcoming film RA.ONE.
The film which is being directed by Anubhav Sinha will have Ash play a small role if everything falls in place.

Vidya's 12 am date at Juhu beach

Shahrukh-Salman ceasefire

The animosity between SRK and Salman Khan has by now become one of the accepted facts in the industry. But, all this is going to change now if the latest behavior between the two Khans' is taken into account.

In a bid to strike friendship with SRK again, Salman Khan recently called up SRK's best friend Karan Johar in order to congratulate him for the promos of MY NAME IS KHAN. It's known that Salman Khan really liked the promos of the film and wasted no time to make it a tool to strike friendship with the SRK camp once again.

In return SRK too seized the moment and praised Salman's upcoming film VEER. Thus both stars hinting at ending all hostilities. Though, SRK and Salman have not spoken directly to each other after their famous spat on Katrina's Birthday party, but it seems that the two Khans' are gradually ironing out their differences.

Well, let's hope the old friendship between the two gets a new leash of life in this New Year.

Salman abuses the makers of VEER

Salman Khan is at it again. This time the superstar has a valid reason to be angry with his filmmakers. Salman, who has written the film VEER, is upset over the fact that the filmmakers are not making changes in the final draft of the film as per his wishes.

Sony Music Entertainment releases MY NAME IS KHAN music

Music now available nationwide from local stores, Amazon.com and downloadable from iTunes.

MY NAME IS KHAN, is directed by Karan Johar and reunites megastar Shah Rukh Khan - named by Time magazine as 'the world's biggest movie star' - and one of India's finest actresses Kajol for the first time in eight years, deals with the bold subject of an unconventional hero - Rizvan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) an Islamic man with an Asperger's Autism Disorder - and his journey into a foreign country to win back the love of his life, as he overcomes obstacles and demonstrates humanity and love. Together the three have ruled the international box office taking Indian cinema to unsurpassed heights and MY NAME IS KHAN is expected to be no exception.

Genelia D'Souza: I didn't check what Jiah had done

It's common news that Jiah Khan had shot for a substantial portion in Shahid Kapoor starrer CHANCE PE DANCE before she was asked to leave. Hunt for a new leading lady began soon after and Genelia D'Souza was roped in. While the entire footage featuring Jiah was reshot with Genelia D'Souza, the JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA girl states that she didn't ask film maker Ken Ghosh to show her the original portions.

'I didn't feel the need to do that at all', responds Genelia when asked to comment on the sensitive issue.

CHANCE PE DANCE is budgeted at 25 crores

UTV Motion Pictures are quite excited about the prospects of their upcoming release CHANCE PE DANCE and this excitement comes with a reason. A good chunk of investment made in the film has already been recovered and theatrical revenue is expected to make it a plus film within days of release.

"Cost of production of CHANCE PE DANCE is 20 crores while additional 5 crores has been spent on print and publicity. Given the kind of buzz that the film has managed to create, it should be a matter of a few days before this investment is recovered", confirms Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO UTV Motion Pictures.

My Name is Farhan

Farhan is no lesser perfectionist when it comes to acting. The director-turned-singer-turned-actor who will be seen in a sober turned cool dude role in his upcoming film KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK was required to ride a bike in one of the scenes in the film. But, the hitch was that Farhan didn't know how to ride a bike. So, finally his producers' organized some bike riding lessons for him. But, Farhan was not happy with this much.

Now, the actor wanted a full fledged license before he would enact the biking scene. His producers and the director of the film had no choice but to wait for the license to arrive. It took the filmmakers more than a month to complete this particular scene. Thanks to Farhan's perfectionist attitude, the shoot which would taken only hours to complete took a month in this case.

Priyanka Chopra knocks off seven men?

Well, it is not the next in the series of VIP hit and run cases, if that is what you are thinking about! We are simply talking about Priyanka Chopra's next project with Vishal Bhardwaj (after the mind-blowing KAMINEY), where she has seven on-screen husbands. And no, she is not playing seven roles in the film.

If sources are to be believed, the film that is all set to get underway next month, has Priyanka Chopra playing wifey to seven top stars. And believe it or not she kills them off, one at a time!

Aishwarya Rai's in tough times

While shooting for her film ENDHIRAN opposite Rajnikant recently, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had to go through some tough time. Buzz, is that the former beauty queen was shooting at a location that was not motorable and thus her vanity van had to be parked at a distance. This meant that even the basic amenities were not available for the top actress.

Karan Johar: With MNIK I have got out of my safety zone

There is just one month to go for the release of MY NAME IS KHAN and if initial promos followed by the music are any indication, it is obvious that Karan Johar has adopted a different route for himself with the film. Touching upon a topical affair is always a tricky situation and for someone like Karan who is known to be filling his frames with colours, the film is clearly taking him out of his comfort zone.

"More than just the visual presentation on screen, what was of pertinent importance was the fact that MY NAME IS KHAN required a lot of external research", explains Karan who worked along with writer Shibani Bathija on the film, "All this while it was about my own world and sphere with which I was comfortable with but here I was looking at certain perceptions which are a global phenomenon."

I've no recipe for success: Aamir Khan

He has given back to back hits like "Taare Zameen Par", "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots" in the last three years but Bollywood actor Aamir Khan claims he has "no recipe" to make a successful film and he doesn't know what audiences want.

"I don't have any recipe (for success). Lot of us often forget that the business we are in by definition is basically selling stories... We have to be different each time. I have to reinvent myself, I have to be different - that's the demand of my job. It's not something that I am thinking and doing, " Aamir said.

"I am attracted to scripts that move me emotionally and when you have such stories to tell, it doesn't matter how unusual it is, people connect to it, " he added.

The 44-year-old who was here at the Economic Times Awards also stressed that he is oblivious to the audience demand in terms of content.

"I've no idea what audiences want. I only have an idea about what I want... When I read a script, I go with my gut and then it just happens, " he said.

Aamir's latest outing "3 Idiots" has smashed all records and become Hindi cinema's highest grosser till date with collections crossing Rs. 240 crore worldwide.

Babban is another Circuit in Arshad's career

Arshad Warsi who will be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's ISHQIYA is quite kicked about his role in the film.

Ask him if Babban will be as memorable as Circuit he states, 'I don't know. I hadn't thought that about Circuit too. It was a role that I did. It's a nice character. I loved the story and more than that I loved the film's and Abhishek Chaubey's sensibility.'

I don't have any boyfriends. I like being with girls: Shah Rukh Khan

Seated at a restaurant in London surrounded by some 10 women, including his wife Gauri, when Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh says that he "likes being with girls", you simply have to believe him.

"I don't have many boyfriends. I like being with girls - and probably that's why people think I'm a little girlish. But I don't have any such male bonding with anyone..., " Shah Rukh said in the first episode of Discovery Travel & Living's upcoming series "Living With A Superstar - Shah Rukh Khan".

Most of Shah Rukh's closest friends are of the opposite sex - Kajol, Farah Khan, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukerji and so on.

Among his best known male friends is filmmaker Karan Johar, with whom he has done many hit films like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehna". Shah Rukh's most awaited film of the year "My Name Is Khan" is also Johar's baby.
The new TV series "Living With A Superstar..." chronicles Shah Rukh in his real, day-to-day life. It aims at taking viewers into the private spaces of the 44-year-old, who is fondly known as King Khan by many of his fans and colleagues.

The 10-part series, which has Shah Rukh's voiceover, will go on air Feb 26 at 9 p.m. with a slice of his life from a family vacation in London.

He is seen taking a rickshaw ride on the street, cheering for a street performer, playing football with his children Aryan and Suhana at Hyde Park, bingeing on food, smoking, visiting Madame Tussaud's wax studio - and most of all just being himself.
In subsequent episodes, viewers can know about Shah Rukh's relationship with his children, wife, sister and friends, unique style of shooting, time management, interactions with fans and staff and about his house Mannat.

The series, jointly produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment and Blue Mango Films, is the biggest ever by the channel, according to Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.

"This is the biggest thing we have done. We have shot in Dubai, San Jose, San Francisco, London, Mumbai, New Delhi - we had been following Shah Rukh wherever he went since March 2009 and he gave us complete access, " Johri told the media, without divulging the investment made for it.

The series will have eight repeats in a week, justifying the fan following that Shah Rukh commands across the globe.

‘Kites’ release date shifted again!

Just last week we had reported that KITES has been confirmed for 14th May release. The official news was shared with this writer by the distributors of the film. Now here’s the latest development: The release date has been revised yet again. The film has been shifted ahead, by one week precisely, and will now arrive on 21st May. The news has been confirmed by the distributors to this writer.

Okay, now here’s something interesting! With KITES now arriving on 21st May, it will now clash with the multi-starrer HOUSEFULL, directed by Sajid Khan, which has been confirmed for 20th May [Thursday]. Will we witness a royal clash on 21st May? Or will either of them shift to another date? Incidentally, Prakash Jha has confirmed RAAJNEETI on 28th May.

Hrithik to tweet just before KITES flies?

With a number of stars from Amitabh Bachchan to Aamir Khan blogging and interacting directly with their fans, it has ushered in a new era wherein the stars are now in direct contact with their fans. It not only helps them to interact directly with their fans, but also results in first hand rubbishing of nonsensical rumours concerning them.

While the above was stage 1, stage 2 has seen more top stars like Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and the latest entrant, Shah Rukh Khan, using a more precise and less time consuming way, Tweeting! In fact Priyanka Chopra has the highest number of followers (1.2 lakhs) on Twitter. King Khan has a staggering 53,000 followers within just week of his joining and is expected to overtake his DON co-star soon!

After Ace Khan, its over to VEER Khan & King KHAN!

Aamir Khan, Mr. Prefectionist, or Ace Khan, as he prefers to call himself, gave the film industry much reason to celebrate with the stupendous success of his latest release, 3 IDIOTS. The year 2009, which had been a disastrous one for the film industry, in terms of revenue generated, breathed a sigh of relief towards the latter part of the year and the industry has high hopes of continuing the good luck this year too.

However, these hopes are not unfounded as the first month itself will see, Salman Khan bludgeoning all opposition in the epic period drama, VEER, which is all set to strike the screens on 22nd January, worldwide. Directed by Anil Sharma, known for handling period drama with aplomb (who can forget his all time blockbuster GADAR-EK PREM KATHA), the film has some lilting music and is being promoted quite aggressively, and has all chances of turning out a winner. And the month of February, the Valentine weekend, that is 12th February to be precise, will witness the release of perhaps the biggest project of 2010, MY NAME IS KHAN, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. Being directed by Karan Johar, who in the past has an impeccable record with SRK and Kajol, the film is eagerly awaited as it brings back Bollywood's most loved 'jodi' (SRK-Kajol) after a gap of almost 9-years! The film's music by the talented trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, which is heavily 'sufi' based, is being loved and appreciated by the discerning public, and with the kind of promotion that the film is witnessing, it will surely peak at the right time and give the industry another reason to keep up the celebrations that began with 3 IDIOTS.

UTV ignites heat for CHANCE PE DANCE

With less than a week to go for the release of the film, things are indeed heating up for CHANCE PE DANCE. While an array of song and dance numbers have already been unveiled, there is an entire promotional drive chalked out till the film's release. Public appearances, international visits, brand tie ups, in film advertisements - a lot is expected to happen during next few days which should heat the film to an optimum scale.

"There are various events planned for the film and would involve both Shahid and Genelia", confirms Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO UTV Motion Pictures, "Other than Mumbai and other cities in India, they would be travelling to London and Dubai to create further awareness about the film. Moreover, there are quite a few brands with which we have tied and they too have started their own advertisements. Since the film has quite a lot of music and dance in it, we had to be doubly sure that all of this is presented to the target audiences though the well designed promos. Thankfully, public comments on this aspect have been all around positive as well."

Abhishek presented with Guinness World Record

In February 2009, Abhishek Bachchan created a world record for the Maximum number of cities visited by a film star in 12 hours, setting the stage, making him the first Indian film star to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Today, he was presented with the Guinness Record at the auspicious Chevrolet Apsara Awards presentation ceremony.

An excited Abhishek Bachchan shares," I'm quite excited by the success, more so because it has been done for a film that's so close to my heart. I am delighted to receive this honor at the prestigious Apsara Awards in front of the entire film industry. The issues addressed by DELHI 6 are relevant and have a strong message for our countrymen. This record Id dedicate to the people of India."

After his much talked about break-up with Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan has found a new replacement for his ex-lover. The new girl in question is no different in her looks when compared to Katrina Kaif.

In his upcoming movie VEER, Salman will be seen romancing Zarine Khan who looks very similar to Katrina Kaif. Before getting into the break-up mode, it's Salman's habit to find girls who resemble his ex-lovers. A case in point would be Sneha Ullal, whom Salman found after his break-up with Aishwarya Rai.

Who is Salman feeding?

Horses, Camels, Elephants were as good as flooded on the sets we hear and who took care of them you ask?

Well Salman Khan himself!

Reveals a production source "Salman would take care of the horses and see to it that they were well looked after. But when it came to the elephants Salman would literally go and feed them himself and pet them"

Salman already has pet dogs, who he treats like royalty and his love for animals we see extends well past his own pets.

Kareena Kapoor gets animated

She's the size zero babe of bollywood. Known for her curves and hot-affairs, Kareena Kapoor will be seen in a new avatar in the film RA-ONE starring Shahrukh in the lead.

Buzz is that Kareena Kapoor will be seen in an animated avatar in the film. This will be for the first time that Kareena Kapoor will don an animated look in any film. Earlier, Bebo had lent her voice to the animated characters in the film ROADSIDE ROMEO.

Amitabh Bachchan turns Newsreader

Amitabh Bachchan knows how to get under the skin of the character he's playing on screen. In 2009, he did it with PAA, in 2010, he's doing it for Ram Gopal Varma's keenly awaited RANN in which he plays Vijay Harshwardhan Malik, a media baron in search of a balanced equilibrium between news and sensationalism.

The movie that revolves around the state of media today, takes an entertainingly hard look at the way news is being presented and consumed. Not surprising then that Bachchan donned the mantle of a newscaster and relayed all the leading events that made 2009 the year it was. He does it in his inimitable deep baritone coupled with his intense dramatic style of delivery.

Katrina is out of work!

One of the busiest and certainly the present number one actress of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif, has of late been in the news, more because of her health and personal reasons rather than her work. But in the film industry, it's the volume and quality of work that speaks! And in the year gone by (that trade pundits term as the worst year for Bollywood in terms of hits), call it luck or sheer dint of hard work that amongst a handful of successful films, three star the ravishing Katrina! Be it the first universal hit of the year, Yash Raj's NEW YORK or Rajkumar Santoshi's AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI and Priyadarshan's DE DANA DAN, all have one factor in common, Katrina Kaif. What more can one say!

However, despite this, the actress is literally out of work, but it's due to her own personal choice that she has not signed a single film after RAAJNEETI. Though it was expected that she will star in Farah Khan's, TEES MAAR KHAN, opposite her lucky charm, Akshay Kumar, somehow it is likely to be another starlet, as of now.

Salman's friend in rival camp

Salman's mood swings are not without reason. The superstar is not happy about the fact that one of his close buddies is getting more attached to his rival camp.

Yes, we are talking about veteran actress Beena Kak. Salman, who has been close to Beena's family, is reportedly upset about the fact that she worked with SRK in the film DULHA MIL GAYA. Salman, who is known to harbour grudges for long is reportedly upset about Beena's decision. Though the film has been released today, but the grudge seems to have made deep roots in Salman's heart.

Well, Salman might have a reason to harbour this grudge, after all he's not known for his mood swings for nothing.

Karan Johar - Back to songs and dances!

One can't expect Karan Johar to be sticking on to a particular genre in spite of plethora of successes behind him. After making a feel good bubble gum flick KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI followed by family drama KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM and a tale of extra marital affair KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA, he decided to take a far more contemporary route and embarked upon a journey called MY NAME IS KHAN. However, he is sure that his next film would be a much lighter affair.

"I have given my three years, heart, soul and body to MY NAME IS KHAN. Now I would love to go back to songs and dances. I guess it's the need of the hour for me", states Karan Johar who did embark upon different productions like KURBAAN and WAKE UP SID in the interim period in the capacity of a producer.

Abhishek 'Sirji' Bachchan has now become a tree to promote Idea Cellular's new 'Green Planet' campaign.

With global warming becoming a hot debate topic, Idea's Sirji is advocating 'Use Mobile, Save Paper' to 'save the planet'.

The new Idea TVC showcases how the mobile phone can be used as an efficient tool to read daily newspapers, generate e-bills, make payments and transactions, issue e-tickets and boarding passes; thereby saving tonnes of paper everyday.

Brand Ambassador Abhishek Bachchan, playing the role of an agonized 'tree' this time, strikes the idea of using mobile phone to save paper, and therefore, the greenery around him. As more and more people switch to their mobile screens, from everyday usage of paper, the tree regains life and leaves the audience with a simple message - 'Use Mobile, Save Paper'.

With every passing day, Arshad Warsi is becoming more and more fond of his character in upcoming release ISHQIYA. He being cynical only adds further edge to this character which Arshad loves to call as 'kameena'.

"Really, you haven't seen someone as kameena as Babban", laughs Arshad, "He is really smart and shaatir. You would assume that after being caught in a tricky situation, he won't be able to come out of a situation. However, he does eventually which makes him such a lovable rogue."

Lopez: "I Should Have Been Oscar-Nominated For 'El Cantante'"

Jennifer Lopez has lashed out at Oscar voters for not nominating her for her role in El Cantante.

The singer/actress felt let down when her name wasn't among the hopefuls for the 2008 Academy Awards -- and can only imagine the experts didn't get around to seeing her turn as salsa star Hector Lavoe's wife Puchi.

She tells the upcoming issue of Latina magazine, "I feel like I had that (Oscar role) in El Cantante, but I don’t even think the Academy members saw it. I feel like it’s their responsibility to do that, to see everything that’s out there, everything that could be great."

Lopez admits she would have loved to have accepted her first Oscar from a hospital bed after just giving birth to her twins Max and Emme.

She adds, "I had just given birth on the 22nd (February), and the Oscars, I think, were a day or two later. I was sitting there with my twins (and) I couldn’t have been happier, but I was like, 'How dope would it have been if I would’ve won the Oscar and been here in my hospital bed accepting the award?' -- 'Thank you so much! I just want to thank the Academy!'"

And she still has her sights on an Oscar: "Things will happen when they’re supposed to happen. I have the utmost faith and no doubt that it will (happen) one day."
