PREITY ZINTA TAKES HER ITEM NUMBER SERIOUSLY!

Preity Zinta wasn't about to just phone in her guest appearance in the Salman Khan/Kareena Kapoor starrer,Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna. The actress, whose last on-screen appearance was in a cameo during Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi's "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte," decided to get serious about her item number, "Happening." An on-set source dishes, "Preity had a ten-day rehearsal with Farah Khan before she started shooting for the song. Every day she would rehearse for three hours. She also was on a special diet and hardcore workout and yoga and swimming sessions to be in shape for the song." Well, she must have been in pretty good shape already, because no ten-day workout will yield such awesome results without great starting material!

Sporting a look reminiscent of Aishwarya Rai's in Bunty Aur Babli's ever-famous "Kajra Re," Preity flirts through "Happening" in an open-air theatre located in Dubai. Even though the shoot for the song only lasted one day, reportedly it cost a fortune to rent the theatre and fly the cast and crew to its location. However, anyone who's caught UTV's latest promo for the song is bound to agree-every penny spent (and time invested on Preity's part) is totally worthwhile. The toe-tapping number will surely rejuvenate Preity's image as a bubbly, fun woman, and lighten a film that carries somewhat serious subject matter.
Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna, a tale about the repercussions of an extramarital affair, opens 16 October. Unfortunately, those hoping for a more substantial dose of Preity may have to wait a while. Her next film, Har Pall, co-stars Shiney Ahuja, who has been making headlines for legal troubles rather than on-screen achievement. The film is still in post-production, and no release date has been set.
