Post her surgery in Mumbai, Katrina flew off to London claiming to spend New Year’s Eve with her family. Katrina, who ushers in the New Year with her mother and siblings each year, was particularly thrilled about the family reunion this time round, because she was looking forward to playing with her sister’s little son. But apparently, family has been sidelined in favor of some companionship.
One can’t help but wonder how she planned to keep her jaunt to New York a secret. It’s a small, small world after all. When we called her grandmother’s place in London, a relative said, “Oh, but Katrina is in New York.”However Katrina said, “I’m very much in London. It’s a joke in my family about me being in New York because I’m harassed by many calls.”
Kaif also skipped beau (or is it seriously ex-beau now) Salman Khan’s birthday in favour of New York. Ranbir and Katrina met on the sets of Raajneeti but their friendship really took off when they shot Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. For the last few months, Ranbir has been in an on-off relationship with Deepika Padukone while Katrina’s relationship with Salman Khan has slowly ground to a halt.

Aamir turns a cobbler now

Bollywood star Aamir Khan has designed shoes for his latest movie 3 IDIOTS.

The actor has especially designed a range of Converse shoes with what he calls 'doodle designs', said the official website of Viacom 18.

These shoes, worn by Aamir, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the movie, are being sold through a 24-hour shopping TV channel HomeShop18 on a show called 'Converse 3 Idiots collection'.

Australia gearing-up for A R Rahman's concert

Australia is gearing-up for Oscar winner A.R. Rahman's (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) exclusive free concert in historic Parramatta Park outside Sydney on January 16.

Because of huge audience this event is expected to attract, organizers appear to be meticulously planning it. Authorities have declared it as "vehicle free" event. Rahman's two-and-half hour live performance has also been declared "glass free event" and thus the attendees will not be able to bring glass on site.

Website of Parramatta Park Trust of New South Wales Government describes Rahman as "the undisputed superstar of contemporary Indian music". "In a country of a billion inhabitants where film and pop music are one, Rahman, 43, dominates the music industry", it adds. Rahman will reportedly entertain with an entourage of over 40 musicians and Bollywood dancers, presenting various rhythms and melodies of contemporary India.

She has named the girl Alisah meaning joy in Greek.

It wasn’t a spot decision though, reminds our bee. She says that Sush was planning this adoption but waiting for the High Court rule to change. Previously a person was not allowed to adopt a girl child for the second time.

Our bee informs that the whole family is ecstatic after finding a new member in their world.

Our bee is impressed by the concern of the kind loving and caring Sush. She believes that the trend of adopting child is regular among Hollywood celebrities with Jolie & Madonna topping the list.

"No, the film isn't an autobiography by any means. That would be completely wrong to state. Yes, there are some similarities in my personal life when compared to that of the character of Sameer that I play in the film. However, that only pertains to my younger days when I was struggling and trying to make it big in the industry. Other than that, there isn't anything else about my personal life that would be seen in CHANCE PE DANCE."

A.R. Rahman to act in a Hollywood film

Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) for the first time will be seen in front of the camera in upcoming film SON OF A PREACHER MAN, about the life and times of Grammy winning singer-songwriter-producer PJ Morton.

Besides Rahman, other cast includes American Gospel musician Kirk Franklin (NORBIT), Grammy nominated American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard (LIFE ON A STICK), and producer Warryn Campbell (STOMP THE YARD). Shot in Atlanta and New Orleans in USA and London in United Kingdom, it will be released in 2010. Michael Akwesi Djaba (REASONABLE EXCUSE) is the director.

Rahman and Morton collaborated on Sajna song in recent Hollywood comedy COUPLES RETREAT.

Rahman, who has reportedly recorded sales of over 300 million, was called "Mozart of Madras'' by Time magazine. Rahman sees music "as a way to connect to spirituality and embrace it" and for "creating harmony in troubled times".

Bachchan reveals how his phenomenal journey began when he gave up a career in engineering to become an actor. From sleeping rough to getting his first break, he talks about arriving in Mumbai in 1969 and how he got noticed by directors.

After starring in what is thought to be one of Bollywood's most successful films of all time, SHOLAY, Amitabh explains how he thought he almost missed out on a bigger opportunity: "What disturbed me at that time was the fact that I couldn't play Gabbar Singh, because I felt that was the most important and really interesting character...but we never knew what we were doing was going to turn out to be so successful".

Bachchan goes on to talk about his most memorable moments from his 40-years in Bollywood - including his infamous near death accident on the set of COOLIE (1983); how he set up his ABCL business; and how he nearly went bankrupt. He says: "All the creditors were from my own industry, and I was going to remain here as an actor...I would not be able to face them if I knew that I owed them money. So...I worked hard and I paid back every single penny."

From 1984 he took a four year sabbatical away from the industry but looking back at his decision, Bachchan questions whether he was right: "I was without a job, without money, with a huge amount of creditors. I went to Yash Chopra and said I need work. He gave me MOHABBATEIN [2000]), and slowly those character roles started coming my way."

The entire Bachchan family is recognized as an acting dynasty. Bachchan's wife is actress Jaya Bachchan; his son, Abhishek Bachchan and his daughter- in-law Aishwariya Rai Bachchan. Aishwariya went from winning the Miss World title to becoming the highest paid and most popular actress in Indian cinema. Talking about the 'Bachchan brand' he says: "I'm not able to understand the word brand, we're all actors... and we are also family. We leave the home in the same car, we go to the studio and we share the same make up van and so on. But when the camera starts, we are all individuals and we play our role."
